Meet The Team
Director of Sales
Tom joins the Cheyenne Mountain Resort team with over 25 years of hotel experience and during his hospitality career has worked for major hotel chains such as Marriott, Wyndham and Hilton as well as independent hotels across the country. Originally from Pennsylvania and a graduate of West Virginia University, Tom has lived and worked in Valley Forge PA, Ft. Lauderdale FL, Salt Lake City UT, Jackson Hole WY and now he and his wife Sarah have called Colorado Springs their home for over 10 years. Tom has worked with all market segments including Association, Corporate, Government and SMERF and has orchestrated countless Social Catering events as well. He started his career as a Front Desk Agent and quickly worked his way through the industry holding positions as Sales Manager, Director of Business Travel, Director of Catering and Director of Sales and Marketing. When not working Tom takes advantage of the over 300 days of sunshine that Colorado Springs has to offer and enjoys camping, hiking, mountain biking, golfing, white water rafting and skiing. His most recent passion is hiking Colorado’s “14’ers” (mountain peaks over 14,000 feet above sea level) and in August ’14 he summited four in one day bringing his total to six……..he now has only 46 more to go!
Senior Sales Manager
Penny has over 27 years of experience in the hotel and hospitality Industry which has provided her with extensive knowledge of Hotel Sales, Catering, and Operations. Her market is concentrated with the Association Market and Financial Conference Planners Association. Penny has worked her way up through the ranks from Operations with Hyatt Corporation as well as in Catering Manager with Hyatt and Director of Catering with Interstate Hotels and Meristar through 1998 and then as a Senior Sales Manager for over 16 years with Meristar and Benchmark Resorts & Hotels. Her Operations, Catering and Conference background has allowed her to be knowledgeable in both the sleeping room arena as well as capacities of meeting rooms and conference and event planning. Penny is a performance driven professional whose accomplishments reflect outstanding sales skills and focus on maximizing efficiency, productivity, and client relationships. How does Penny like to spend her weekends if she is not working? Spending time with her 13 year old son and boyfriend, Jeff and running, biking, swimming, or skiing with them.
Senior Sales Manager
Gineau joins Cheyenne Mountain Resort with over 10 years of hospitality sales experience from resorts and hotels across the US. He has worked for properties in Boston, Maui, Stowe (VT), Scottsdale, L.A. and most recently San Diego. Gineau was born in Hawaii, but his father’s work moved him to Jakarta, Indonesia for six years, then Tokyo, Japan for seven, where he graduated from high school. Gineau is a graduate of the University of California at Santa Barbara. Most of his free time is spent with his wife, Ashley, and their 4 year old son Landon, with an occasional golf round mixed in here and there.
After relocating from the DC area, Betsy began her career at the Sandestin Beach Hilton in Destin FL. During her tenure there, she wore many hats: mostly in food and beverage operations. A few years later, she was offered a position managing a country club dining room where she gained valuable catering experience. She parlayed her catering experience into a catering manager position at the Sandestin Resort, which is different ownership than the Hilton. During her time there, the Sandestin Hilton offered her the position of Convention and Catering Director. Betsy decided she wished to venture into a sales manager position. She joined the pre-opening team for WaterColor Inn and Resort. Another pre-opening opportunity presented itself to her in Montgomery AL, and she eagerly accepted as she thoroughly enjoys pre-opening properties. From Montgomery to the home of the Naval Academy, was her next move, as she thought she wanted to get back “home.” A couple years later, a former colleague called and told her of an opening at the Peabody in Memphis (quack, quack) so another relocation. And now, here!
Betsy earned her CMP designation in 1994 and has been certified ever since.
National Sales Manager
Jennifer joins the Cheyenne Mountain Colorado Springs team from San Marcos, Texas. Starting as an intern in the hospitality industry, she has made her way up through several positions in the Sales & Catering departments. After graduating from Texas State University with a degree in Business Management, Jennifer decided to pursue her dream of living in Colorado. She enjoys hiking, camping and kayaking alongside one of her biggest passions - working on cars with her boyfriend.
Senior Conference Planning Manager
Brenda is a Colorado native, born in Colorado Springs at Ft. Carson and raised in Security, CO. She has over 20 years of hospitality experience and has worked her way through many departments at Cheyenne Mountain Resort. She started at CMR as a PBX Operator in February 1994 and moved through many departments until she joined the conference team in 1998. She has been married for over 15 yrs and has two teenage boys.
Conference Planning Manager
Amanda is no stranger to the hospitality industry, as she grew up in Kissimmee, Florida (home to Walt Disney World). Amanda began her event career in sport management and transitioned into event management at convention centers in 2006. Amanda joined Cheyenne Mountain Resort in January 2014 and is excited about her transition into the hotel industry. Amanda is a Certified Meeting Professional and enjoys providing quality hospitality to all of our guests. She enjoys giving back to the community and is pursuing that interest by being a member of our Hometown Hospitality Committee at Cheyenne Mountain Resort.
