Cheyenne Mountain Hires Katherine Bobbitt to Manage Alluvia, the Resort's New Spa
COLORADO SPRINGS, CO Apr. 28, 2015 Jay Rocha, general manager at Cheyenne Mountain Resort, has appointed Katherine Bobbitt spa manager of Alluvia, the resort's new six-room guest spa that will be unveiled early June. Given that the spa is currently under construction, Bobbitt’s primary responsibility is bringing together the right mix of therapists, services and guest experiences to bring Alluvia's quintessence to life. To date, Alluvia is the only resort spa set to debut in Colorado Springs in 2015.
Bobbitt takes the helm of a 5,000-square-foot spa that will complete the resort's expansive suite of guest experiences, making it the largest resort destination along the Front Range to offer golf, fitness, tennis, swimming, dining, meetings, outdoor recreation and now spa. "We are eagerly awaiting the debut of Alluvia and couldn't be more pleased knowing that Katherine is on the forefront helping us actualize our vision, said Rocha. “She is a spirited leader, compassionate healer and a wonderful addition to our team."
Colorado Springs has long been revered for its historic landmarks, inspiring rock formations and rare minerals. Bobbitt plans to infuse Alluvia with the richness and healing power of its surroundings by including locally-sourced ingredients, natural therapy treatments and indigenous elements, minerals and rocks into the spa's design, treatments and guest experiences. With construction efforts in progress, she is involved in every facet of the spa ranging from major decisions such as product selection, staff hiring and design to more subtle yet important details including linen selection, spa aroma and music selection.
In 2004, Bobbitt relocated to Santa Fe, NM to learn the art of massage healing and therapy. She enrolled at The New Mexico Academy of Healing Arts and earned a Polarity and Massage Therapies diploma. A strong believer in the power and balance of Reiki and Energy Healing, Bobbitt has earned four Reiki master level and teacher certifications including Usui Shiki Ryoho, Karuna Ki, Imara Reiki and Lightarian Reiki, Level VI. She is a licensed and nationally certified therapist through the National Certification Board For Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork.
Most recently, Bobbitt was the lead massage therapist at Nidah Spa at The Eldorado Hotel where she worked closely with the spa director to manage daily operations, create new spa treatments, train therapists and provide massage services for clients. Prior to that, she held positions at The Refinery, Body and managed her own practice for three years.
