Summer Fun under the Colorado Sun Begins at Cheyenne Mountain Resort

05/05/2017

Passport to Summer boasts free and moderately priced experiences designed to entertain and save

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. ─ May 5, 2017 ─ It’s vacation season. Time to heed Mother Nature’s call and head outdoors to create sun-kissed memories with loved ones. For families looking for a beach meets mountain getaway, the AAA Four Diamond Cheyenne Mountain Resort is once again offering its signature Passport to Summer program. Pocketbook-tested, family-approved, the summer package features a medley of interactive explorations, savings and unique experiences on top of an expansive lineup of award-winning resort amenities and services. Passport to Summer is available Memorial Day to Labor Day with rates starting at $219 per night.

“Planning a summer vacation can be quite the undertaking,” said Rachel Horgan, marketing manager at Cheyenne Mountain Resort. “We purposely designed our on-property experiences to minimize, if not completely, shoulder this task and give our families everything they need to make their vacation nothing short of epic.”

Set on 217 acres, Cheyenne Mountain Resort rolls out the quintessential Colorado carpet with educational summer adventures; hands-on Cheyenne Mountain Zoo animal interactions; private lake aquatic excursions; indulgent spa and wellness pampering; delectable fare; tasty signature craft beers and beverages; and distinctive social affairs bundled into one epic summer experience.

The Passport to Summer package includes:

  • A souvenir backpack chock full of summertime gear including sunglasses, water bottle, sunblock, chapstick, beach ball, and pool toy. Additional backpacks can be purchased for $25.
  • Personalized passport booklet with your child’s photo, for them to take around property and get stamped.
  • Departure gift for your child upon completion of their summer passport activities.
  • Discount coupons to Cheyenne Mountain Zoo.

Parents can also take advantage of the resort’s new kid dining programs. Starting Memorial Day weekend, the Kids Eat Free program will feed more kids as the current six-year-old age limit is boosted to 10. For pre-teens and teens, the resort cooked up GRUBClub, an all-day dining pass that includes three square meals, a treat and unlimited beverages. Starting at $35 per day, GRUBClub can be added to any reservation and offers tiered savings for families with two or more kids.

Available all summer, families can also enjoy a lineup of fun experiences to make their stay even more exciting, such as:

Tunes on the Terrace - Thursdays, 6:00 - 8:00 PM | Join us on Thursday evenings this summer at the Pineview Grille for live music on the terrace. Sit back, relax and enjoy our casual gourmet fare or a handcrafted cocktail as you listen to our favorite local performers.

Complimentary Craft Beer Tastings - Fridays, 5:00 - 7:00 PM | Sample craft beer from a different Colorado microbrewer every Friday evening this summer. Root beer will be available for the kiddos.

Gourmet S’Mores Bar - Fridays & Saturdays, 6:30 - 9:30 PM | Not to be outdone, Cheyenne Mountain Resort is known for its Gourmet S'mores Bar featuring caramel, nuts, peanut butter, banana chips, bacon, candies and more! Join us every Friday and Saturday evening on the terrace this summer - we'll have a roaring "campfire" going in our large stone fire pit for marshmallow roasting. And once you've crafted your perfect gourmet s'more concoction, take in our mountainous views from a rocking chair while enjoying your scrumptious handmade treat.

Zoo Breakfasts - Saturdays, 8:30 - 10:00 AM | Bring the whole family to breakfast in our Mountain View Restaurant and then visit with your favorite animals from Cheyenne Mountain Zoo afterwards. This unique experience provides up close interactions with a variety of animal ambassadors including the zoo's skunk, snakes, tortoises, prairie dogs and many more!

Dive-In Movies - Saturdays, Sunset - 10:00 PM | Instead of a drive-in movie, why not DIVE IN this summer? Bring your floaties and join us at the resort pool every Saturday evening this summer for a family-friendly film. We'll even throw in some complimentary popcorn and lemonade!

Cheyenne Kidz Camp - Mondays - Fridays, 8:00 AM - 2:00 PM | A summer full of energy, adventure and so much more! We'll discover new things, build friendships, navigate obstacles, and create lasting memories. From scavenger hunts to sand castle building and swimming to kickball, we'll send your camper home tired!

Children ages 5-12 are welcome. One snack and lunch is provided each day. Make sure to send your camper with all the items they may need throughout the day, such as: swim suit, change of clothes, sunscreen and tennis shoes. Camp runs Monday, June 5 through Friday, August 4, 2017 | $395/week or $95/day.
